You are cordially invited to join us for our 9th Annual Golf Tournament for Independence
which will be held on Monday, June 25, 2012 at The Indian Ridge Country Club in Andover,
Massachusetts. This year's event will be a 1:00PM shotgun start.
By registering to play or sponsoring this event, you can have fun and make a difference at
the same time! All proceeds will help the Northeast Independent Living Program continue to
provide quality programs and services to people with all types of disabilities living throughout
the Greater Merrimack Valley who wish to live more independently in the community.
This year’s tournament is shaping up to be the best yet as we head to the private country
club setting of Indian Ridge. Both skilled and non-skilled golfers will find Indian Ridge
rewarding and challenging, providing players with a most enjoyable golfing experience.
For over 30 years, Northeast Independent Living Program, a cross disability, consumer
controlled Independent Living Center, has been providing advocacy and services to people
with all types of disabilities in the Greater Merrimack Valley who wish to live independently in
the community. We believe that people with disabilities are the best determinants of their
own needs and service choices. Through role modeling and peer counseling, with other
individuals with disabilities, they become empowered to make changes in their lives and
become more self-sufficient and self-reliant.
Recently our staff assisted an individual with Muscular Dystrophy from Greater Haverhill with
information and assistance with the application process for MassHealth’s CommonHealth
Program to acquire a much needed electric wheelchair. This individual is employed and this
assistance made the difference for him to continue to work with dignity in our community.
Our staff also helped a 71 year old woman with a physical disability from Greater Lowell,
acquire funds to install a stair-lift in her home. She could no longer climb stairs and was
facing moving to a more restrictive setting. NILP staff qualified her in one of our programs;
so, she was able to have a stair-lift installed in her home. She could stay in her home and
enjoy a better quality of life in the community.
Your participation as a player or sponsor is the lifeblood of this golf tournament, so please
join us at one of the area's premiere private venues for a great day of golf, food and fun.
